This was an amazing project to work on for several reasons. First, I had the rare and valuable opportunity to work with a different kind of company. In the Bay Area, tech dominates, and cheese brands are few and far between. Second, I had a chance to create a new typeface.
It’s always welcome change when a project takes me away from my computer and into the real world. But my deep and undying love for cheese made this project all the more exciting. I wanted to give Milk the feel of a neighborhood cheese shop, but with a certain elegant, upscale ambiance. I created an illustrated interpretation of the cheese-making process, which spans across the shop’s walls. The local feel is emphasized by the fact each product has its own design — there isn’t one template for all package or bag designs — which lends each item a one-of-a-kind feel.
